Fr Ripperger and the Upcoming SSPX Consecrations

The signs are that Fr. Ripperger is a manufactured asset.

An article at Integrity Magazine titled, False Friends: Taylor Marshall, Fr. Ripperger betray Archbishop Lefebvre by Opposing SSPX Consecrations, caught my eye this week. Tay-Tay Marshall as he is known around the traps without affection does not interest me in the slightest. Tay-Tay is just about the pure definition of grifter, and he will say or do anything in order to keep the Catholic trad bucks rolling in. His true colours have been on show for years for anyone with a brain to take note of them.

The fact that Marshall refers to the man pretending to be pope as “dad” is a prime example of the infantilism of the Church by its proponents. It goes hand in hand with the childlike drawings that accompany any pronouncement on their “synodality”.

But Fr. Ripperger is a more interesting case. From the quoted article:

Fr. Chad Ripperger, the darling of conservatives and Trad Inc., approaches the issue differently but arrives at a similar unfortunate destination.

In his interview with Gordon, he begins by stating, “I would like to see them not do it and try and work something out.”

Like Marshall, he emphasizes sympathy for the Society and repeatedly describes himself as “benign towards the SSPX” while praising their priests and leadership. But once again, sympathy stops exactly where institutional expectations begin.

Ripperger’s central argument revolves around the state of emergency. He argues that no clear definition exists in the magisterium or theological manuals and states that many scholars have searched for one without success. Despite this, he concludes that we are not yet in a universal state of emergency because priests such as himself are still able to live traditional priestly lives within approved structures.

This argument implies that as long as Ripperger can “play trad,” he is content being a sideshow in the conciliar circus — a caged animal in the ecumenical zoo run by Modernists, in other words.

Fr. Ripperger appeared out of nowhere several years ago, with captivating videos posted on Youtube where he regals his audience with carefully worded sermons and talks, many of which are on the subject of his work as an exorcist. He speaks exceptionally well, and he possesses a father figure charm that has seen not only him, but also those who interview him, grow very sizable audiences as a result. It does not hurt that the Youtube algorhythm pushes him at almost any opportunity.

Which tells me that he is a manufactured asset. He never comments on topical issues related to the heresies emanating from the visible Church hierarchy, which is a comment in itself. Failure to call out sin is a sin. But now he has moved towards condemning the SSPX, and he is condemning them from a position of using all of the extensive goodwill that he possesses thanks to his Youtube audience. In other words, his own condemnation carries far more weight than that of Tay-Tay Marshall.

It is always prudent to remember that our enemies actively play both sides of the street. Anyone who is able to build a sizeable audience like Fr. Ripperger should be suspect. Other priests who are just as charismatic but who criticise the Vatican and its sacred cows, priests such as Fr. Nix and Fr. Mawdsley, do not get anywhere near the coverage that Fr. Ripperger enjoys. And along with the big views also come the big bucks, plenty of money to be able to continue to build and grow your exorcism retreat. Don’t want to rock the boat and risk upsetting that applecart.

On the subject of the SSPX bishop consecrations, they are both valid and schismatic. They are valid because the bishops performing the consecrations have a direct line back to Archbishop Lefebvre. But they are schismatic because the SSPX accepts Prevost as pope. Even though he is not actually the pope, they still accept him and they are going against his explicit instructions not to perform the consecrations.

In Catholicism, if you believe something to be true then your actions must accompany it. For example, let’s say a devout Catholic who observes the direction to not eat meat on Fridays, wakes up on a Wednesday morning and truly believes that the day is Friday. But it is not Friday, it is Wednesday, so he is mistaken. However, even though he believes that it is Friday he decides to eat meat.

Did he sin? Yes, he did. He believed it was Friday when it was not, yet he deliberately chose to eat meat. If later on the same day he discovered that he was mistaken and it was actually Wednesday, he would still have committed a sin. A Catholic cannot use technicalities and legalism to get around what was in his heart.

If the SSPX does recognise the American cretin and heretic as pope, then even though they are mistaken it does not excuse their actions. They are still in schism, which is a grave matter.

All these consecrations do is to muddy the waters further. The SSPX needs to find the courage to act as the Transalpine Redemptorists have done and to reject the false pope in Rome. The upcoming consecration as bishop of the Very Rev. Father Michael Mary will both be valid and not suffer from schism. To that end I doubt that it will have the support of Tay-Tay or the exorcist.
