Mr Piggott - your article on anti-immigration ‘normie’ Australians wishing to transport back to the 1980s is spot on! Amongst the ‘Dissident Right’, there is a strong nostalgic feeling for the 1990s, mainly due to the age cohorts of the people who represent the ‘movement’ (Gen-X/Millennials). Many of those who miss the 1990s will focus on the fact that immigration levels were small in comparison to the present day, but ignore the evidence that immigration had already affected many urbanised areas; and matters other than non-immigration were already prevalent during that time: divorce, pornography, European Union expansion, mothers in the workforce, abortion, feminism and ‘free-trade’. Unfortunately, many 90s nostalgics will ignore the non-immigration problems that were a cause for concern during that decade and will focus solely on immigration - I have even seen ‘nationalists’ support the idea of ‘universal childcare’ and drug legalisation. In the ‘Dissident Right’, Sweden during the 1990s is seen as a great nation, ignoring the strong feminist culture and general political correctness that was often more advanced than other Western nations.
